PRIDE TOASTS TO 2012
By Eydie Mendoza
San Jose Pride partnered with Fahrenheit Ultra Lounge of San Jose to host “Toast & Mingle with PRIDE”, which was an intimate meet and greet mixer on February 7, 2012 where 60 LGBT and Allied supporters came together.
The warm ambiance of the Lounge is a perfect setting for the community to meet and express ideas with New Festival Director Dane M. Duggan and the San Jose Pride 2012 Board Members: President Nathan Svoboda, Vice President Roman Fernando, Administrator André Mathurin, Jess Hutchens, Eydie Mendoza, Robert Parra, and Natalie Romano.
“I thought it was fabulous! It was great to hear from the members of the community. There was a lot of representation, including political figures, business owners and volunteers. I want to do more mixers throughout the year,” expresses Pride President Svoboda.
Vice President Fernando adds, “It was another successful community event. It was nice to mingle and meet many new faces, brainstorm on events with our community partners, and a pleasure having San Jose City Councilmember Ash Kalra attend our event offering his support.”
Along with the presence and support of the City Councilmember and City employees, community members and local business representatives, both Splash Video Dance Bar and Brix Nightclub owners also joined the team in a Toast, as both are hosting an array of events and fundraisers throughout the year to benefit San Jose Gay Pride.
Pride ensures to offer a diverse lineup of events in support of the 2012 Festival by working with additional organizations and venues in San Jose and neighboring cities.
San Jose Pride 2012 Festival Director Dugan says, “This year’s Pride festival will truly be a reinvention. We have a great plan in place to expand the event in attendance, relevance to our community, onsite offerings and patron value. I’m confident that Pride, united with the support of our sponsors and friends in Silicon Valley, will be an unsurpassed success.”
All of Tuesday’s minglers who completed a Fan Form were placed in a drawing for two Totem tickets. Congratulations to San Jose Pride Fan, Adrian Rios, who won the drawing.
