“Pssst! There’s and elephant in the room.”
San Jose PRIDE also known as Gay Pride Celebration Committee of San Jose, Inc. (GPCCSJ, Inc.) resolved such an issue between Board Members at the Thursday, June 6, 2013 meeting in a closed session.
It happens, the combination of “He-said, she-said” and a “Facebook Blast” is a modern-day wildfire resulting in defamation … slander, where if it isn’t addressed immediately and professionally everyone gets caught-up in the crossfire. As an in-house resolution, the organization and board members agree to address and resolve concerns and misunderstandings in advance.
The lesson learned is that venting angrily, even among friends, in public results in the spreading of communal misinformation and interpretation. For clarity, no one resigned or was terminated, but the two Board members involved talked about the conflict and apologized. Honesty and accountability was vital to last night’s discussion and will continue to be the best way to resolve matters positively.
The basic consensus is to “agree to disagree,” so with a sigh of relief San Jose PRIDE proudly sent that Elephant packing.
